Duties
The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing is committed to building and preserving healthy neighborhoods and communities through homeownership, rental housing and healthcare opportunities.
The Office of Multifamily Housing is responsible for the overall management, development, direction and administration of HUD's Multifamily Housing Programs. HUD's Multifamily programs provide mortgage insurance to HUD-approved lenders to facilitate the construction, substantial rehabilitation, purchase and refinancing of multifamily housing projects. MFH is widely responsible for production, asset management and portfolio oversight, and recapitalization of assisted properties, and field operations. As part of the National Housing Act of 1934, Congress created the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which later became a part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Housing in 1965.
As a Director Office of Program Systems Management, you will:
- Direct the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of automated systems, and their impact upon the day-to-day management of multifamily programs.
- Direct the overall interpretation of procedures and the provision of guidance and assistance to multifamily field and Headquarters' components, and other Departmental partners.
- Direct development of technical training to assist in accomplishing effective implementation of program regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Direct analysis and preparation of budgets for assigned programs, and coordinates with other applicable offices during the annual federal budget cycle.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-15, specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS- 14 level, or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the
knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience must include:
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external groups interested in or affected by programs or policies; AND
- Leading project teams to ensure successful and on-time project completion; AND
- Analyzing program materials and offering recommendations for improving the delivery of program information to affected individuals and groups.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
