This permanent Environmental Protection Specialist GS-0028-12 position is located in Everglades National Park, Office of the Superintendent, in the Planning and Compliance Division.

Duties
Major duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Advises and coordinates the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental compliance process for a variety of projects and plans.
Guides an interdisciplinary team of compliance specialists and subject matter experts in the analysis and minimization of potential environmental impacts of proposed actions.
Prepares and reviews biological assessments in support of Endangered Species Act consultations.
Collects and analyzes field data and prepares statement of findings for projects that may impact floodplains and wetlands.
Supports the preparation and submittal of federal and state environmental permitting applications.
Develops and maintains positive and effective working relationships (orally and in writing) with NPS staff, agencies, key stakeholders, and the public.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess at least 5 of the following minimum qualifications elements by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: managing the production of environmental compliance documents and functions as a compliance coordinator leading or coordinating all aspects of the compliance process for the park to ensure adherence with the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and other federal environmental laws; reviewing proposed actions and ensuring that environmental effects are considered in planning and decision-making, that these considerations are documented, and where applicable, an opportunity is provided for public involvement; complying with environmental reporting requirements; analyzing and managing environmental information and information systems; managing, administering, and coordinating programs or projects to achieve and maintain environmental compliance of ongoing operations or remediate past environmental violations or compliance problems; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with project managers and interdisciplinary team members in minimizing environmental impacts; and coordinating or consulting with various Federal resource and regulatory agencies and non-government entities regarding environmental issues. You must include hours per week worked.
