This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), International Affair Section (OFI), Office of Foreign Operations (OF). This incumbent serves as the Senior Program Advisor for OFI within the Office of Foreign Operations, for the foreign visitor program. Maintains liaison with the Department of State and various international entities.

As a Supervisory International Visitors Program Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a primary point of contact with the Office of the Administrator and as a direct focal point in the agency on all matters relating to areas of expertise in regards to liaison activities. Manages DEA's foreign visitor program to highlight agency and educate visitors on DEA functions. Acts as the agency expert in the provision of technical assistance on international programs and issues relevant to the foreign visitor program. Coordinates the work efforts of subordinate staff, analyzing and evaluating highly unstructured and interconnected problems involving controversial and complex administrative or programmatic issues and problems. Advises and provides counsel to a group of employees performing work at the GS-12 level regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Assisting with the development, planning, and coordination of foreign official visits; 2) Arranging meetings with higher level officials to ensure proper protocols are adhered; 3) Managing visitors for senior United States representatives, to include high-ranking members of the military branches as well as U.S. Ambassadors assigned to overseas Posts. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
