This position is located at the Colorado River Service Unit, Parker, AZ. Position serves as a Medical Technician responsible for the application, modification and adaptation of analytical methods and procedures in the performance of a variety of tests/examinations of human tissue, fluids and/or other substances in the clinical laboratory. This position will report to the Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Duties
Perform standardized procedures in accordance with established methodology manuals, technical references and precedents.
Performs non-standard procedures that involves the use of methods, techniques, instructions or other processes or actions.
Withdraws appropriate quantities of blood by vein punctures and capillary puncture.
Sets up, operates and/or utilizes appropriate equipment, instruments, containers, and other devices and materials to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances.
Performs preventive maintenance, periodic inspection and performance testing of equipment and instruments together with the maintenance of appropriate records.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): For positions at GS-4 and above: (a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemistry, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings; or technical support in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work. OR
Completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-7 grade level.
