Duties

This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Office of the Associate Director for Patient Care Services. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative support to the Program Manager for Nursing Excellence (PMNE). Major Duties: Compiles and analyzes data for nursing practice responsibilities. Recommends alternatives or solutions to a wide variety of quality management issues. Assists with projects resource utilization and performance improvement cross-divisional nursing practice issues. Compiles and summarizes information from designated sources (i.e. Press Ganey, NDNQI, VANOD, and internal measurements) and formulates an action plan for use by the PMNE. Assists and provides support to the supervisor, nursing program managers, and nursing staff. Collaborates with RN Data Analyst to develop databases and other electronic methods to accurately track data that supports nursing excellence outcomes. Coordinates the preparation and submission of a wide range of narrative, administrative reports for the PMNE. Prepare and update policies and procedures for nursing practice across divisions. Screens visitors and telephone calls regarding nursing or nursing affiliates. Maintains office files and records. Performs other duties as assigned by PMNE. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements 30 days from the closing date of this announcement, 10/31/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Ability to type 40 words per minute. Prefer a candidate with strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel, Publisher). You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-7 LEVEL GRADE REQUIREMENTS SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Effectively design and conduct analytical studies to measure and evaluate nursing excellence programs. Recommend changes in administrative policies, organize and coordinate procedures and offices practices. Skill in the use of personal computers, including the use of word processing, spreadsheet, graphic reports, and Microsoft Publisher. Medical terminology, correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Computer SkillsOrganizational Performance AnalysisOrganizational StewardshipStandards Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary with no physical demands exceeding normal office work requirements.
