Position is located at the Long Beach VA Healthcare System with the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&R). This position will directly contribute to the administrative management of the health care delivery system, applying the specialized principles and practices of health care management.
Duties
Duties:
Recommend actions or adjustments necessary to achieve required objectives
Investigate administrative problems and employee areas under the jurisdiction of the service line and recommend solutions, implement resolutions independently when necessary.
Develop and coordinate internal review systems to assure that both clinical and administrative activities ate in compliance with agency and accrediting regulatory requirements.
Support Clinical Coordinator in assisting patients, their families and representatives, and facility staff members in recognizing and removing institutional barriers to the provision of optimum health care to veterans.
Make inquiry to patient complaints, initiates action or changes necessary to correct problem situations, and reports on corrective measures taken to the patient or patient's representative.
Act as an advocate for patients using seasoned judgment to resolve problems.
Analyze data, identify trends and concerns of issues.
Determine the necessary evaluation, reporting, and documentation requirements relative to client status, changes and monthly summaries.
Prepare comprehensive analysis of programs
Develop and/or maintain a system of internal reviews and a performance improvement program to ensure all programs operate at a high level of effectiveness.
Assist in establishing internal review criteria for assigned programs and helps present the PM&R Service to internal and external evaluators.
Monitor recommendations for completion and provide continual updates to the Clinical Coordinator.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/02/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience gathering, analyzing and reporting on clinical data. Experience in finding solutions to clinical and/or patient issues. . OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have ???????2 years of graduate-level education focused in an area that would give you the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
