This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Atlantic Area LANTAREA, Fifth Coast Guard District, Prevention Division, Director Auxiliary (DIRAUX) Northern Region, Philadelphia, PA.

Duties

The position provides continuity for management and administration of the D5NR Auxiliary program. This office is responsible for approximately 1,600 Coast Guard Auxiliary members and includes all personnel, administrative, training, and certification functions. The position’s primary purpose is to provide a wide variety of administrative support services to the Auxiliary program, which is a non-military, all-volunteer element of the Coast Guard.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Examples of specialized experience include: researching administration issues pertaining to a volunteer program; analyzing program administration issues; developing procedures and guidelines to supplement established administrative regulations; pertinent laws, regulations, policy and precedents which affect the auxiliary program; and applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operation. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
