The primary purpose of this position is to design, fabricate, integrate, test, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate and rebuild multi-system complexes consisting of analog and digital electromechanical and optical systems and subsystems, where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

Duties

- Designs, fabricates, installs, modifies, integrates, tests, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibrates complete multi-systems. - Performs pretest, operational (functional), and final testing, tuning, alignment, and calibration of complex electro-mechanical and optical control multi-systems, sub-systems and components. - Uses and maintains hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and test equipment - Plans and lays out work from electrical, electronic, and mechanical block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, verbal requests and technical orders. - Performs maintenance documentation and time accounting, and executes and adheres to safety, security, hazardous materials and other compliance programs.

• Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds, and occasional objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
• The work requires standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors, and crawling underneath or climbing onto the deck of tracking mounts to access equipment bays and electrical connections.
• Climbing and working in high places (towers) may be required. Good color vision is required.
• This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
• Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
• May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours, and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600, Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices, operational capabilities, and limitations of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems; of such applications as electro-mechanical optical tracking systems, and associated data distribution, remote control and communications systems, including microwave and terrestrial, digital and analog computers, and digital display devices; of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and basic trigonometric functions. 2. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete multi-system complexes such as the complete electronics package for electro-mechanical optical tracking systems, including numerous interconnections of signal paths both between and within individual subsystems of the multi-system complex; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, maintaining, calibrating and integrating electronic integrated multi-systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions. 3. Skill in the use of a variety of hand, electric, and pneumatic tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and micro soldering units. Ability to follow drawings for multi-system complexes of numerous integrated systems; to trace the effect of a change in one subsystem to other integrated subsystems and determine which controls and devices must be changed or adjusted to compensate; and to repair, align, and adjust complete multi-systems where complex functions are performed by numerous systems that are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops. 4. Ability to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actions. 5. Knowledge in the application of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions and procedures in handling components and circuit cards. 6. Knowledge of the operational capabilities and limitations of integrated electronics and related electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, optical, hydraulic systems. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
