The Housekeeping Aid executes a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care
areas. The position may be assigned to any tour and may be required to work in various designated
areas during any tour of duty. Typically, the position works independently with general supervision, or
works with a team and is responsible for the full-range of cleaning duties in an assigned area throughout
the medical facility.
Duties
Duties Include:
Empties and cleans trash, recycle and medical waste receptacles. Cleans, scrubs, mops and sweeps floors and hallways. Dusts, washes walls, window seals, ceilings, light fixtures.
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects over 50 pounds.
Performs for extended periods of time while standing, stooping, or lifting. Moves furniture.
Works from ladder and hangs privacy curtains and shades.
Follows instructions, utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary and as specified in the instructions.
Cleans porcelain, stainless steel and marble urinals, toilets, bath tubs/shower stalls, fans, light fixtures, venetian blinds, exterior surfaces of air vents, glass surfaces, pillows, mattresses, beds, bedside stands, over-bed tables, call light cords, bedside chairs and tv remotes.
Vacuums and cleans upholstered furniture.
Promptly reports all accidents or unsafe/unhealthy workplace conditions
Makes beds with clean linen.
Work Schedule: Full - Time, Tour of duty/days are to be determined based upon the needs of the Service: Alternate Weekends. Every weekend and/or varied shifts i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Physical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the use of light powered cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums) in the performance of duties.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather.
