About the Position: his position is a Transportation Assistant (Inspection/Office Automation), GS-2102-07 located at 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Log Readiness Center, Transportation Division, Ft Knox, KY.
This is a Temporary position intended to last 31 Oct 2024.
Duties
Generate Inspection Schedule for purpose of establishing inspection requirements.
Inspect to ensure that packing material are clean, packing methods are proper, correct types, sizes of containers, and packing material are used for each type of item.
Experience in communication skills, both oral and written, in dealing with customers and commercial representatives.
Perform a variety of quality assurance functions in the inspection of all the various methods of personal property shipment from/to worldwide locations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
- May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Advise personnel on matters regarding delivery, shipment and/or storage of personal property shipments; 2) operate a personal computer to type a variety of material from transportation source documents; 3) AND answer inquiries on all matters pertaining to shipments of personal property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business, Organization and Management, Logistic Management and Travel & Tourism Industry. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
This position requires a qualified typist (at least 40 wpm with 3 or fewer errors) is required.
