You will serve as an F-35 AIRWORTHINESS INTEGRATOR AND LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER in the AIR SYSTEMS GROUP, PROPULSION & POWER ENGINEERING DEPT, ENGINES & AUXILIARY POWER UNIT DIV, TURBOFAN/TURBOJET ENGINE DESIGN BRANCH of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. Incumbent is expected to average one day per week in the JSF JPO spaces in Crystal City, VA when not on travel.

Duties

You will review completed work of assigned engineering team members for technical accuracy. You will coordinate engine team assessment of all technical and program issues, including incorporation of Engineering Changes, Spares Requirements, Integrated Logistics Support Planning, and logistics related Reliability and Maintainability issues. You will participate in the formulation of development, technology transition, acquisition, and in-service support policies and best practices. You will provide technical direction and management across engine programs. You will coordinate engine team technical efforts to meet engine/propulsion program goals.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or DP-4 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical oversight and guidance to solve technical problems, resolve policy conflicts, and ensure that program objectives are met; 2) Utilizing knowledge of related air vehicle engineering fields such as structures, propulsion systems, performance, aircraft design, airworthiness, and flight testing; 3) Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with others; and 4) Applying knowledge of the Systems Engineering process to execute program requirements. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
