This position is in the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Operations Office, Communications and Governmental Affairs. The incumbent oversees the communications and governmental affairs activities within BJA.

Examples of specialized experience include: plans, develops, and implements marketing strategies for promoting and publicizing new or substantially revamped programs and services; oversees the dissemination of publicity/marketing materials and evaluates the success of various efforts; establishes and oversees the editorial direction, design, production and distribution of publications; develops strategies for planning and managing strategic communications programs; designs and conducts a wide variety of comprehensive studies and detailed analyses of complex communication, marketing and/or public affairs functions and processes related to long-range planning; develops, led, and implemented communication strategies to reach a variety of audiences; communication and presentation skills related to a communications/public affairs program.A degree in communications, marketing or a related field is desirable.TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications as described above will be further evaluated based upon the following technical qualifications:Knowledge of social media outlets, communications and governmental affairs principles, and evaluation techniques.Ability to analyze marketing, communications and/or public affairs organizational and operational problems and develop solutions.Ability to plan and execute communication, marketing and/or public affairs programs.Ability to communicate in writing.Ability to manage a staff and resources to accomplish short and long-term organizational goals..Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
