The primary purpose of this position is to prepare course materials and conduct training on any or all phases of the comptroller career field
Duties
Conducts classroom instruction in laboratory, and field instruction in double entry and accrual accounting, operation of automated data processing equipment, to include the General Accounting and Finance System (GAFS) and it's sub-systems, computing military and civilian TDY and PCS vouchers to include Integrated Automated Travel Systems (IATS), principles of leave accounting, status and event transactions and allotment transactions, including procedures for Defense Joint Military Pay System (DJMS) and Defense Retiree Annuity System (DRAS).
Researches, develops maintains and updates lesson plans, instructional material, visual aids and course documentation for complete courses.
Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. Prepares administers formal/informal written and performance examinations and assigns grades in accordance with prescribed criteria.
Counsels students to help identify and resolve problems. Counsels in area of performance, department, attitude, and/or participation.
Accomplishes special projects related to specialty area.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the IOR.
***THIS IS A CCAF POSITION***
For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only:Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent Graduate Degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level Graduate education leading to such a Degree OR LL.B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant has less than the full amount of specialized experience described above; however, applicant has completed some education as described above. Therefore, applicant has a combination of experience and education as described above. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
2. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs.
3. Knowledge and skills of the comptroller career fields.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
5. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses.
6. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
