Duties

WHAT IS THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY SERVICES (FMSS) DIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Facilities Management and Security Services The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Receives visitors and phone calls. Deals cordially and tactfully with callers. Ascertains nature of requests and directs callers to appropriate staff, or personally provides the information desired when routine or procedural matters of the office are involved. Determines what information can be divulged in ascertaining the nature of call. Controls visitor's access and implements security procedures. Schedules appointments by contacting attendees, obtaining the proper location for scheduled conferences, scheduling rooms, copying and assembling materials and reports, and obtaining the necessary equipment when needed. Prepares and assembles documents, including necessary transmittal forms and envelopes, in accepted office format for mailing or as otherwise directed. Reviews outgoing correspondence and documents to ensure proper signature and procedural instructions, and necessary attachments and enclosures. Searches for assembles, and summarizes pertinent information from various sources (e.g., files and documents in the office and from outside sources, manual and automated logs, management information systems, software programs and/or the internet) based on general or specific instructions as to the nature of the information wanted and its purpose or for the purpose of preparing recurring statistical reports reflecting caseload and other managerial reports. Operates a government owned vehicle to transport passengers, mail, files equipment, etc, for the IRS officials including Office of Chief Counsel and the Commissioner's office, within the Washington DC Metropolitan area in all traffic conditions. Provides a variety of courier-type services by transporting documents, files, and packages to various office and locations. Follows established procedures, schedules and routes to accomplish timely and effective delivery. Upon request, provides motor vehicle operating services to the chief Financial Officer, Legislative Affairs, Treasury and other IRS managers.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: To qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience operating a motor vehicle; Experience with motor vehicle procedures and experience with operation controls for trucks, vans, light panel and passenger vehicles weighing up to 10000 lbs., sufficient for driving these vehicles in all types of traffic, road and weather conditions. Driving experience must be sufficient to conduct safe and timely transport of passengers and documents regardless of traffic problems. Experience meeting and dealing courteously and tactfully with others to accomplish work assignments, clarify requirements and verify completion; Experience operating a variety of office automation equipment to enter data in various automated systems; Experience applying grammar, spelling, punctuation and commonly used formats and terminology to communicate procedural and factual information to business customers.
