This vacancy is for a Business and Industry Specialist in the Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of the Under Secretary, Office of Information and Communications Technology and Services within the Department of Commerce.
Duties
As a Business and Industry Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Direct and integrate the contributions of senior business, industry, and academic professionals and other government agency officials both within and outside the employing organization;
Serve as a technical authority in the program or function assigned to serve as an authoritative spokesperson to outside organizations;
Influence agency policy, or effectiveness in one or more critical and high priority program areas.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Business and Industry Specialist, GS-1101-14, Full Performance Level (FPL) GS-14 positions within the Bureau of Industry and Security in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Developing administrative regulations that disseminate program guidance for applications across organizational lines;
Providing support and guidance on strategic planning, major policy initiatives, and management priorities to senior leadership;
Acting as an authority and spokesperson in discussion with government agencies, senior level business, industry, and/or significant congressional staff and committees.
