This position is inside the bargaining unit.
Duties
Major duties for this position at the GS-11 level include, but are not limited to:
Conducts studies, reviews, and analyses to assess the potential impact of software applications on mission operations and functions.
Creates reports of findings, presentations, and other documents outlining problems, issues, trends, and multiple recommendations for affordable, actionable solutions, and supporting rationale.
Translates user requirements documents into viable system requirements, which preserves the integrity of user requirements expressed by clients at various levels of the supported organization.
Assists with the design of user interfaces, workflows, menu design, and layout of applications.
Works with other IT Specialists to develop operational and system testing, phased implementation, and post-implementation user input and assessment.
Analyzes test results, user reactions, and suggestions, develops new or revises existing requirements, and develops a plan of action accordingly.
Maintains an awareness of updates, upgrades (deployment patches), current and existing systems, and the introduction of new technology to be incorporated into the Enterprise Architecture.
Assists end-users in the use of hardware and software applications and peripherals.
Consults with supervisors, IT liaisons, and other key personnel to identify user problems, issues, and challenges and develops solutions.
Major duties for this position at the GS-12 level are similar to the GS-11, however, they are performed under less supervision.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
Qualifications
You must meet the Basic Requirements listed in the "Specialized Experience" section to qualify for the IT Specialist position, as described below.
For GS-11: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-9, in the Federal Service OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeor3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
For GS-12: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Qualifying specialized experience for GS-11 includes:
Demonstrated experience delivering comprehensive end-user IT application software training to large diverse audiences on a regular basis.
Experience reviewing, editing, and developing training/course materials, aids, presentations, etc., and other written material.
Experience interacting with managers, employees, and peers to coordinate training options and training delivery.
Qualifying specialized experience for GS-12 includes:
Demonstrated experience delivering comprehensive end-user IT application software training to large diverse audiences on a regular basis.
Experience reviewing, editing, and developing training/course materials, aids, presentations, etc., and other written material related to IT.
Experience interacting with managers, employees, and peers to coordinate training options and training delivery.
Additional to the above specialized experience, for all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
