The Program Support Assistant (PSA) for Associate Director Patient Care Service (ADPCS) provides administrative and programmatic assistance to the Cancer Care Program. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the assigned clerical and administrative support requirements of various aspects of the team or teams assigned. The incumbent reports directly to the Cancer Care Program Manager.
Duties
Serves as the communication hub for Cancer Care program which provides general information and administrative support to Veterans, their families, and the Cancer Care Program Team.
Possesses oral and written communication skills with clinical and administrative staff, leadership, Veterans, their families and any other internal/external customer.
Uses VA Medical Center VISTA System, CPRS, Microsoft Office (includes Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Access).
Procures supplies, locate local resources and materials, and process billing contracts.
Types and mails letters, reports, memorandas, rosters, mailing lists and other office materials.
Coordinates meetings and/or schedules conferences, maintains calendars, and follow-up action items.
Independently resolves problems by prioritizing tasks, clarifying exchange of information, coordinates the workflow within the Cancer Care program, and makes decisions regarding caller needs.
Trains new staff on the use of VA software and equipment, troubleshoots software and hardware (such as printers, faxes, monitors, desktops and phones.
Provides, receives, or develops information in order to identify problems, needs or issues. and resolves operational problem or disagreements affecting Cancer Care program.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/31/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience with the Cancer Care program and guidelines.
Works efficiently under stressful situations that emergencies and changes create.
Experience with VA Regulations governing eligibility for entitlement to ADPCS programs and outpatient care.
Experience with functions of the VA Medical Center Staff, VA Central Office, Cancer Care Program and ADPCS program, Community partners and refer telephone calls and visitors appropriately.
Excellent telephone, customer service and interpersonal skills are needed to ensure tack and diplomacy. Demonstrate a high degree of dependability, flexibility, and accountability.
Experience with data management and communication skills.
