About the Position: This position is assigned to the Safety Office of the Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE), Fort Sill, OK. Serve as Supervisor Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE)

Duties

Serve as a Fires Center of Excellence (FCOE) safety and occupational health advisor to commanders at all levels, program directors and managers. Assist the Safety Director in planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating a total Command Safety Program. Support the design of methods and techniques in identifying and controlling of hazards related to FCOE systems and equipment, occupations and work operations, environmental conditions, and human-machine relationships. Conduct training to promote safety and health awareness throughout the installation. Draft inspection reports, educational materials, and information packages to inform stakeholders about the safety/occupational health status of installation. Participate in meeting and conferences as a consultant on safety and occupational health. Provide guidance on safety/occupational health issues to subordinates. Exercise supervisory duties such as assigning work, initiating personnel actions, rating employees, effecting disciplinary measures etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel TDY up to 5% of the time.
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
  • The work may involve frequent exposure to a variety of weapon systems, machinery and equipment operations, fumes and dust, hazardous materials, high noise levels, and temperature extremes. Protective clothing and equipment may be necessary.
  • This position requires to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and yearly thereafter.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized.
  • Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.
  • Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.
  • Must obtain the Army Professional Certificate in Safety and Occupational Health and Army Explosives Safety Certificate Level I and II within one year of appointment.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accident/Mishap and Hazard Investigation and ReportingCompliance Inspection and Program ManagementManaging Human ResourcesSafety and Health Training and Education Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
