Incumbent will provide information, guidance, and assistance to plan administrators, service providers, participants, beneficiaries, the general public, and other government agencies concerning the provisions of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, MHPAEA, and the other related statutes, regulations, and Department-published guidance. As the primary liaison for outreach activities, the incumbent will coordinate with stakeholders/other federal agencies/colleagues to ensure education/outreach goals are met.

- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Qualifications
You must meet the "Specialized Experience" to qualify for the Benefits Advisor (Senior), as described below.
GS-13 level: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience in the employee benefits field, ERISA laws and the ability to provide assistance and educational information to individuals, employers, special interest and other groups in the employee benefits industry. Experience communicating complex technical issues to individuals in plain language. Experience in fact-finding and problem solving to ensure conformity to applicable rules and regulations. And experience communicating and networking with stakeholders through outreach efforts to educate individuals on ERISA and related laws.
Education
There is no substitution of education for the required specialized experience at the GS-13 level.
