The primary purpose of this position is: This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of SCPD 9C186 Student Trainee (Medical Readiness Specialist), GS-0399-05. Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document.
Duties
GS-05
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Intern Program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development.
Duties:
Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of health services operations.
Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects. Studies Air Force requirements for the projects and researches and studies the current body of precedents and technical knowledges. Receives specific information and explanations on projects, e.g., specifications and basic steps and tasks to be performed.
Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives. Assists senior personnel in determining the validity, feasibility, achievability, and efficiency of special studies, projects, and initiatives, and participates in planning the studies, projects, and initiatives.
Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the office/organization. Assists senior personnel in preparing, reviewing and finalizing a wide variety of correspondence, reports, and other documents prepared in handwritten or electronic drafts.
Requirements
- Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying accredited institution
- Must sign a Participant Agreement
- U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
- Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
- Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
- You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
- Pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree, Graduate or Professional Degree
- Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
- Have a good academic standing (no less than 2.95 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale)
- Meet the qualification standards of the position
- Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if Permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act
- This is a TERM Position. NTE 36 Months
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties
- This position is established under the provisions of the Intern Program
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
- TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENCES WILL NOT BE PAID

PLEASE NOTE: This is a developmental opportunity, this position may be filled at the, For example: GS-03, GS-04, or GS-05, grade level depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

To qualify for a GS-03: Completion of 1 academic year of post high school study in a related field of study
To qualify for a GS-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study
To qualify for a GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
