About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Gregg-Adams, in Prince George County, Virginia. Located 3 miles east of Petersburg VA and is Headquarters to the US Army Combined Arms Support Command.

Duties

Serve as Security Assistant with responsibility for managing all aspects of the security program within the organization, which includes: information, personnel and property. Manage the Foreign Disclosure and Visits program. Maintain a working knowledge of and understand the differences between Classified Military Information (CMI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Proprietary Information, Technical Information, and other types of restricted information. Review and process military and civilian requests for personnel security actions: determines type of investigation required and appropriate channels for requesting investigation. Maintain a system of accountability for all classified materials generated from/or received by personnel, including registers reflecting receipt, dispatch, distribution, and ultimate disposition of each copy of classified documents. Maintain oversight of the unit’s physical security program, to include Access Control System (ACS) computers and security container and door combinations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Requires temporary duty (TDY) travel 10% of the time.
  • Must satisfactorily complete the Foreign Disclosure Officer Course required for certification.

Submitting personnel security clearance applications. AND 2. Assisting with security inspections and/or surveys. AND 3. Administrating the facility access control systems and/or programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level (GG/GS-07 grade level in the federal service or GG/GS-08 equivalent outside the federal service). OR A Master's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as International Relations, Foreign Area Studies, Political Science, Geography, Foreign Affairs, International Law, History, Economics, Demography, Engineering, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Military Science, Cartography Social or Cultural Anthropology and/or Physical or Chemical Science. OR A Master's Degree or Law Degree (LLB or JD) that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position.
