About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill an administrative position located in the Executive Office. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in administrative work or a background in protocol. Possess an in-depth knowledge of admin work and military protocol, to include excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills, experience working with Microsoft, detail-oriented, a passion for helping others, and exceptional customer service skills.
Duties
Receives visitors and telephone calls to the office. Determines the nature of the requests and directs the callers to appropriate person.
Schedules requests for appointments and meetings. Checks on availability of Commander and the Executive Support staff and confirms appointments.
Provides assistance to the Command Group on computer-related problems and coordinates with IM for assistance when necessary.
Designs, organizes and maintains filing systems for the Executive Office to include logs, file plans, suspense files of follow-up actions and correspondence.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Designated Key Position - Position is designated as a "Key Position" in accordance with AR 690-11.
- Incumbent may be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security Clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative support functions for an office, such as but not limited to, scheduling appointments and meetings, reviewing incoming documents (e.g. memorandums, correspondence, etc.), creating travel arrangements, and assisting on Military personnel matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
