You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) in the ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION WHITING FIELD, MILTON, FL.

Duties

You will provide administration of military pay, personnel and passenger transportation functions. You will coordinate check-in/check-out services for military personnel, to include endorsing original Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. You will prepare updates to military personnel service records. You will work closely with Sailors and PSD to ensure all aspects of pay and personnel support are accomplished in a timely manner. You will provide military personnel leave authorization support.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administration of military pay, personnel and/or passenger transportation functions; 2) working closely with customers to ensure all aspects of pay and personnel support are accomplished in a timely manner; 3) attending meetings, and/or distributing and implementing local policy and procedural changes; 4) coordinating check-in services and check out transfer services; 5) ensuring military personnel, checking in/out of their command, are entered in TWMS with the correct arrival/departure date; 6) providing administrative support, including preparing military personnel specific correspondence. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
