This position is located in the Industrial Security Division, Office of Information Security, Bureau of Diplomatic Security. You will serve as an Industrial Security Specialist and implement policies, standards, and procedures to ensure that classified national security information, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Sensitive but Unclassified (SBU) are properly handled, safeguarded and protected.
Duties
Participate in the planning, organizing and implementing of the Department's National Industrial Security Program (NISP) worldwide.
Responsible for assuring compliance with the security requirement and policies of the NISP
Operating Manual.
Conducts inspections of contractor facilities at Department of State (DOS) locations worldwide to assure compliance with security requirements.
Screens DOS contractor personnel nominated for deployment to critical overseas missions.
Articulates Diplomatic Security (DS) policies and positions on key issues at meetings such as implementation of the NISP, processing facility and personnel security clearances required for performance on DOS contracts;

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants applying for the GS-12 must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience implementing tenets and principles of a National Industrial Security Program.
- Experience implementing security requirements and applying procedures, methods, and techniques to safeguard classified national security information, sensitive compartmented information and SBU material and documentation.
- Experience using investigative techniques to determine appropriate mitigation actions when a compromise to classified or SBU information has occurred.
- Experience analyzing classified contracts and statements of work and developing security requirement commensurate with work to be performed under the contract.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
