This position is located within the Environmental Management Service at the Roseburg VA Medical Center in North Bend, OR. The Material Handler s responsible for the removal, disposal and preparation for transportation of regulated medical waste (RMW) and other contaminated waste generated by the facility assigned. Uses specialized knowledge of regulations, including handling, storing and shipping of regulated medical waste and other contaminated medical waste generated by a medical center.
Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Must be physically able in body and mind to perform repeated body movements that include, but are not limited to: reaching, lifting/lowering, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, etc. He/she may be required to climb stairs and use a ladder-type device to perform some duties. Incumbent exerts very physical effort in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds. Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Incumbent works outside in all types of weather. Inside, areas may be dusty, drafty and noisy. Tools, equipment and tasks involved frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries.
