The primary purpose of this position is to receive, record, and process incoming and outgoing mail to include registered, insured and certified mail for Eielson AFB and assists in the administration of the Records Management, Privacy Act, and Publications and Forms programs for Eielson AFB.
Duties
Processes incoming and outgoing mail. Sorts incoming mail to approximately 50 distribution points by organizational designation, room number, name, etc. Independently receives and reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence and promptly determines the appropriate priority and action required.
Maintains security accountability. Performs a variety of mail duties associated with document security and accountable mail. Checks accuracy by comparing tracking numbers with exterior contents.
Receives, delivers, and collects incoming and outgoing materials and documents. Collects and delivers mail in accordance with assigned and predetermined tour and time schedule to approximately.
Provides administrative support. Ensures that references to AF, PACAF, or other media are correct and available to the recipients of the proposed publication.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least six (6) months of general experience. Examples of general experience include: reading, sorting, and routing material to distribution points; applying procedures instructions and/or postal regulations for the control and processing of various types of mail; applying postal regulations for processing all types of mail; applying security regulations and administrative procedures in handling classified or special category mail; applying clerical procedures in performing the routine administrative work of an organization; applying basic data gathering methods to collect various types of factual information; effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; Ability to learn the organizational structure for mail distribution; ability to learn routes, office locations, points of collection and delivery, and names or codes of key employees or offices; ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed one year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of postal regulations for processing all types of mail.
2. Knowledge of security regulations and administrative procedures in handling classified or special category mail.
3. General knowledge of the clerical procedures in performing the routine administrative work of the organization. Skill in applying basic data gathering methods to collect various types of factual information.
4. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to learn the organizational structure for mail distribution.
5. Ability to learn routes, office locations, points of collection and delivery, and names or codes of key employees or offices.
6. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment in accordance with AFM 44-198, Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
