Duties
This position allows you to use your knowledge and experience to serve as a Logistical Branch Chief by leading, planning, and carrying out a wide variety of logistics management programs and functions. This position starts at a salary of $100,102.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $130,131.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $130,131.00 (GS-13 Step 10).
The Supervisory Mission Support Specialist (Logistics) performs significant review and analysis of budget, management, training, logistics, procurement and other areas related to logistical mission support. Duties and responsibilities include:
Managing the Sector's fleet to include overseeing inventory ordering, receiving, transferring and excessing vehicles; conducting local records management of various fleet reports; managing inventories, records management, and providing training.
Managing the Sector's property to include acquisition, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, disposal and retiring of various types of property; Performing tasks associated with creating requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approval; serving as a facility manager.
Performing ongoing mentoring, training, and guidance to peers, colleagues, employees and other supervisors; assisting with developing and recommending solutions for a wide range of operational and technical issues.
Performing other mission support related duties for the Sector and/or Division such as coordinating travel, processing personnel actions, analyzing the office's budget, and serving as a point of contact for emerging trends affecting the Agency.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations; analyzing and resolving problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administration support and staff activities;
Providing coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency;
Ensuring the smooth and adequate flow of information within the department; managing the agency's property program to include acquisition, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, disposal, and retiring of various types of property;
Assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a range of operational and technical issues to evaluate and improve services and processes;
Adapting to changing circumstances;
Organizing and coordinating thorough systematic and professional efforts to meet complex planning needs and unanticipated requirements and to provide written and oral reports.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/25/2023.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions:
Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military

Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
