Duties

Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Responsible for on-the-job safety and health of all employees supervised. Plans, organizes, and oversees efforts and projects that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of program accomplishment. Plays a key role in the development and implementation of program policies, plans, guidelines, proposals, processes, and recommendations on issues which cross functional lines. Implementing plans and initiatives to achieve mission and policy objectives. Obtains and/or develops models for managing various issues, identifies and resolves programs that are barriers to achieving goals. Develops priorities for effective use of resources. Works with team members enacting an initial repeatable process for performing reviews and assessments, and documenting analyzing and reporting findings. Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of employees. Identifies areas with potential for Bureau/Departmental-wide application and coordinates with other Bureau offices, as appropriate to foster common Bureau business and operational practices.

  • Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed.
  • If selected for this position, you will be required to annually complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 within 30 days of reporting to duty.
  • May require a one year probationary period.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Leadership experience directing and managing complex natural resources programs such as forest, range, vegetation resources management, conservation of wildlife and threatened and endangered species, aquatic resources, invasive species, or environmental hazards. Experience in public or private-sector policies, processes, and standards used to manage related projects or natural resources programs. Experience performing financial and program analysis. Experience presenting and discussing sensitive issues, both orally and in writing, to all levels of personnel and management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
