This position is located in the Emergency Room Branch at the Crownpoint Service Unit. The purpose is to provide a variety of nursing care practices, procedures, and treatments to the care of emergency room/urgent care patients. Providing a full range of assessments of needs planning for care and performance of routing and emergency procedures for patients of all ages.
Duties
Assesses all patients presenting for care and triages based on history physical assessments and chief complaint.
Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician such as medications, treatments, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, nasogastric tubes and diagnostic interventions.
Observes, assesses, and stabilizes critically ill pediatric, adults, and geriatric patient health status by physical assessment and examination, interviewing, reviewing health & medication history and monitoring. Stabilizes patient for transfer to other facilities as necessary.
Interprets data obtained from observations, examination, monitoring, and laboratory values. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings, and provides appropriate care measures.
Provides nursing services to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and cultural needs of the critically ill patient and family
Operates and monitors specialized equipment such as vital sign monitors, cardiac monitors, electrocardiograph, suction, hypothermic devices, ventilator, respiratory nebulizer, defibrillator, etc
Collaborates in reviewing and evaluating Emergency Nursing Standards of Care for the emergency department patient.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-09:
Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing;
OR
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of Professional Nursing Experience to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assess and care for the nursing needs of ER patients and other types of patients as assigned; develop plans of care to meet the needs of assigned patients; recognize adverse signs and symptoms and reacting swiftly in emergency situations; basic knowledge of triaging patients; plan with minimal assistance in scheduling and providing comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
GS-10:
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree or master's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of Professional Nursing Experience to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing nursing care, triage patients, recognize and intervene in acute life-threatening situations, cardiac and respiratory failure management in medical, surgical, and obstetrical patients in the emergency room; interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify the patient care needed; independently plan, schedule and provide comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
