THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 MILITARY AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST (MI JFHQ G1), Position Description Number T5701400 and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters (State), Support Programs Division. The purpose of the position is to provide support in the administration of Military & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) services for the Army National Guard within the State Family Program. This is achieved by performing assignments designed to provide familiarity with the Family Program, community services, effective relations with supporting social service and emergency organizations, recruit and train volunteers, promote resilience and financial literacy through targeted life skills training, and the development of human resources program referral networks. 1. Serve as fully independent advisor within geographical area of responsibility in accomplishing all objectives of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) for the Army National Guard to maximize retention and readiness. 2. Manages and operates family assistance center and provide assistance to commands within geographical area of responsibility in support of the SFRP. 3. Provide training and technical support to Commanders and Family Readiness Liaisons to support their Unit Family Readiness program and Soldier & Family Readiness Groups (SFRGs). 4. Requirements

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Minimum time required: 24 Months Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. This position requires knowledge of the principles, policies, program goals and methodology of the National Guard quality of life programs, including factors that affect work and leisure environments, to administer a program that provides information about individual and family social problems and referral to social service programs and agencies, information about National Guard assistance programs, to gather and analyze information on problems and difficulties of obtaining assistance using the current system, to provide programs that address such problems, and to recommend action to improve the system. The incumbent reviews researches and interprets local, state and federal guidelines, regulation, policies and laws that pertain to family member concerns. Conducts needs assessments to identify other programming needs of family members. This is comparable to the resolution of procedural problems described in this level. Assists in developing and maintaining local information and referral programs. Provides technical assistance to personnel publicizing quality of life and the Family Program. The work directly affects the social and cultural wellness of military members and their families, and contributes to the improvement of effectiveness in Family Program activities throughout the state.
