This position is located in the Government Accountability Office. As a IT Specialist, (NETWORKSERVICES), you will be responsible for directing, planning and managing the IT resources within the assigned field office site to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the assigned field offices and GAO-wide IT processes.
Duties
As aInformation Technology Specialist (NETWORKSERVICES), PT-2210-3your typical work assignments will include the following:
Lead teams and working groups for the testing and configuration of new and updated Cloud-based solutions for enterprise implementation, and for the documentation of all software configurations.
Evaluate and recommends best of alternative approaches in planning for practical and optimum use of computer network systems hardware and software, particularly as relates to data transmission networks and interactions among computers, including error analyses and interfacing to software elements such as data transmission control programs, access methods, and utilities.
Provide surveillance and guidance over the program segments and major projects related to implementation and extension of standardized information systems.
Serve as project technical lead for cloud-based products and services.
Serve as a contracting officer's representative (COR) for IT contracts. Conducts market research and develops requirements for major information technology procurements.
Provide advice and technical support on network Information systems. Serve as a systems technical expert for inquiries. Assist users and contractor personnel in all aspects of network processing, system and application design configurations, implementation planning, and installation/de-installation of network hardware and software. Provide assistance in determining site needs for additional hardware and software, including preparation of the requirements documentation.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the IT Specialist (NETWORKSERVIES), PT-III Band Level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Specialized Experience: The PT-3 position require one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band/grade PT-2/GS-13 level (or equivalent) in the Federal Service, or comparable private/public sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience must be IT related and is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
Specialized experience is defined as experience leading teams or workgroups for the testing, configuration and implementation of new and updated IT cloud-base solutions for an enterprise; and providing support and troubleshooting multiple applications in a cloud environment; and making recommendations on hardware, software, system control program changes, and overall communications systems design and configurations requirements in computer-to-computer networks.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
