You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) of UUV SQUADRON ONE.

Duties

You will coordinate or participate in all experimentation and operational evaluation of new Unmanned Undersea Vehicle systems software and Information Technology/Information Assurance certification. You will lead Integrated Product Teams (IPT) in the performance of systems analysis, testing, maintenance and enhancement of tactical and strategic software systems. You will manage the planning scheduling, and perform the installation, testing and implementation of new or modified applications software. You will consult with customers to identify and specify requirements. You will conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews. You will participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies. You will lead troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with the design and delivery of assigned databases and applications. You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 72 and commensurate level within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Performing needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business solutions and consulting with customers to identify and specify system or software requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management on critical IT/IA issues for assigned strategic and tactical systems. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Applying new developments to previously unsolvable problems or making recommendations that significantly influence or improve assigned systems. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating, testing and certifying information technology / information assurance software and systems for a program or organization.
