About the Position: This position is located at the Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Ft. Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Utilize the applicable tenders and tariffs completing the Spot Bid in Global Freight Management (GFM) process based on freight classification, type of equipment utilized, weight and mileage criteria.
Review transportation documents for consignee, priority indicator, nature and classification of materials, ensuring shipping data elements (e.g. length, width, height, weight, etc.) appear on the documents.
Perform physical inspections and validates the carrier’s equipment on (trailer, RGN, etc.,) for various shipments inbound and outbound.
Prepare related documents for shipments having technical requirements (refrigeration, classified, hazardous, high priority, signature service and/or expedited shipments).
Utilize DTR, 49 CFR, Code of Federal Regulations 49 and various other government regulations to complete all government shipments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete a course of instruction within 6 months of onboarding (pending availability) on Hazardous Materials (AMMO 62), and
- maintain certification through the successful completion of Ammo 37 (On-Line) every two years.
- Incumbent must be able to pass and maintain forklift certification and driver testing to operate a forklift up to 10K, and pallet jack for the movement /loading of cargo within 30 days of onboarding.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, posses, or receive firearms or ammunition.
- Civilian personnel in the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) using automated transportation systems to arrange the most economical methods of shipping freight; 2) identifying requirements for specialized shipment needs; and 3) preparing documents for shipments/transportation related activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
