The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish a wide variety of assignments to include effectiveness and efficiency of programs and operations within the 78 ABW Safety Office. Provides the 78 ABW safety office staff with objectively based information for making decisions on the administrative and programmatic aspects of the Robins AFB Safety Management System.

Duties

Provides support for a variety of safety management and administrative special projects for the Installation Safety Office and to conduct studies and researches information relative to the program to identify problem areas. Provides direct support to safety management and participates in special studies or inspections relative to problems, functions, and operations as directed by higher authority, i.e., HQ AFMC, AFSC, the 78 Air Base Wing Commander or the Safety Office. Reviews internal procedures for assigned safety management programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable Department of Defense and Department of the Air Force directives and instructions. Manages technical safety training and management training requirements for all 78 Air Base Wing safety assigned personnel.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OPM Quals BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: This qualification standard covers positions in the General Schedule that involve the performance of two-grade interval administrative and management work. It contains common patterns of creditable experience and education to be used in making qualifications determinations. Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least one (1) year (52 weeks) or will have one (1) year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems and is described in detail in the resume. Creditable specialized experience includes providing support on a variety of management and administrative projects, manage work center documentation and administrative workflow, review internal procedures for assigned management programs and processes and conduct studies/analysis. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in directly related field of study leading to such a degree. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants have less than the full amount of specialized experience described above; however, I have completed educationally some graduated-level education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of management and organization, theories, including administrative practices and procedures common to the organization, specifically mission support activities. Knowledge and skill in applying conventional methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate information. Skill in applying data gathering, evaluation, and interpreting data to arrive at valid conclusions and offer meaningful recommendations. Ability to plan, organize work, meet deadlines, gather/assemble, and analyze facts, determine action and/or coordination required, and provide resolution of issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature. Knowledge of, and skilled in developing course materials and instructions methods, principles, and techniques in order to develop training courses, obtain training resources, and assess overall effectiveness in order to meet identified training requirements. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
