About the Position: This position is for Medical Records/Patient Administration at 10th MDG USAF Academy Colorado Springs, CO.

Duties
Plans, directs and supervises the medical records, front desk and courier services and provides guidance to a subordinate medical records clerk in one outlying clinic.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees/staff, providing or arranging for this training when required.
Reviews reports for proper format to ensure contents meet requirements of medical references, dictionaries, appropriate regulations and that abbreviations used in the text are correctly interpreted and consistent.
Coordinates all work involving the establishment and maintenance of outpatient health records, information desk, and courier routes.
Maintains liaison with all internal and external clinics of the facility to ensure records are received for appointed patients and walk-ins in a timely manner and information is filed properly.
Performs quality control sampling of
medical records to verify proper maintenance and to identify patterns of improper maintenance.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of any of the following: 1) Maintaining medical records for compliance with policies and procedures 2) Utilizing automated medical record systems to retrieve or input medical information 4) Advising personnel on proper maintenance of medical record program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: such as Medical Records Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
