This vacancy is for a Trade and Industry Analyst in the Bureau of Industry and Security within the Department of Commerce.

Duties

As a Trade and Industry Analyst, you will perform the following duties: You will be responsible for assisting senior personnel with continuing business/industry programs and functions and/or for handling routine work of the organization independently. You will participate as a member of study or project teams analyzing private sector business/industry operations. You will design and execute surveys. You will research, collect, and analyze defense-related industry financial, economic, intelligence and other forms of business data. You will use software programs to collect and analyze large data sets. You will communicate statistical analysis in oral and written reports. You will prepare formal presentations and background papers regarding policy and economic issues involving defense and commercial trade. Specialized experience is defined as: Utilizing software programs to compile and organize data drawn from a variety of sources related to industrial base, national security and/or critical technologies; Assisting in preparing formal presentations, documents, and/or written reports. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree. or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. or LL.B. or J.D., if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS) To qualify for a GS-11: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Analyzing program operations in the business or industry area related to industrial base, national security and/or critical technologies; Preparing briefings for internal and external stakeholders; Contacting internal and/or external stakeholders orally and in writing to obtain information. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. or LL.M., if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, designing, carrying out, and leading projects, studies, or other work, as part of a team, on matters related to industrial base, national security and/or critical technologies; Using data analysis tools to organize, analyze, and report findings or trends; Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with interagency partners and other stakeholders; Preparing formal presentations and written material that communicates moderately complex trade, economic, intelligence and/or financial information.
