About the Position: Serve as System Technical Representative (STR) within the Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC), Logistics Assistance Directorate with responsibility for advising and instructing users of general, specialized and sensitive medical systems and equipment for which Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC) is logistically responsible.

Duties

Provide advice and assistance to personnel with maintenance advice, assistance, and training for the operation and maintenance of military materiel managed by AMLC Lifecycle Management Command (LCMC). Assist Army Commanders and other users solve readiness problems that are beyond their organization’s ability or resources to fix. Utilize an intensive knowledge of design and manufacture of equipment to advise military personnel in maintenance procedures on a wide variety of medical systems and equipment and associated materiel. Brief area Lead System Technical Representatives (L-STR) or their representatives on such matters as status of maintenance of equipment, maintenance and operation procedures associated with new equipment. Plan and conduct training to provide personnel with information, guidance, and instruction on maintenance procedures for complex, recently fielded, or experimental medical equipment systems and components. Investigate trends in maintenance problems and the causes for unusual 'down time'. Identify problems in design of equipment and recommends design changes.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics Foundational certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
  • A valid driver's license is required to obtain a military and /or international driver's license when participating in field exercises, deployments, or assigned to a foreign duty station.
  • If required, the employee will receive a series of anthrax vaccine immunizations to include annual boosters.
  • May be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas to support the command's medical devices systems and equipment as well as sets.
  • Single parents or families, where both parents are EE, are required to prepare and present their supervisor an approved family care plan.
  • Will be required to live under field conditions similar to field-grade officers, in tents consuming field rations such as Meals Ready to Eat (MRE).
  • In order for incumbents of this job to fully function in accordance with objectives of Logistics Assistance Program they must be mobile and subject to assignment anywhere in the world where the program operates.
  • This is an EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL (E-E) and Mobility Program position subject to deployment. This position is considered (EE) in support of the Department of Army’s mission during periods of increasing tension, mobilization, and war.
  • May be required to draw and wear protective clothing (current uniform required for wear by DA Civilians specific to operation or as directed by the Command), Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE),
  • and Chemical Defense Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in support of major field exercises, deployments, and mobilization.
  • Must be able to function in a CBRN protective equipment and must be prepared to remove facial hair (mustache, beard, sideburns) during training or overseas assignments to ensure the proper fit and function of protective mask.
  • The attendance of appropriate training for all equipment, particularly chemical defense equipment, is mandatory.
  • Key and Essential are not to be filled by persons with military recall status (one who is in status of a Ready Reserve, Standby Reserve or is military retiree subject to recall active duty).
  • The employee must meet DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

Who May Apply: US Citizens This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) experience identify problems in design of medical equipment and recommending design changes; 2) experience providing guidance on medical equipment and components maintenance and readiness; 3) experience providing instructions to users on the operation and maintenance medical equipment; 4) and experience in the resolution of maintenance and supply problems. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirements using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
