About the Position: This position is located at Headquarters, US Army Forces Command, Office of the Commander; DCS; Public Affairs Office; "Special Staff to the DCG/CoS", at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Provide Public Affairs subject-matter expertise in Army community relations, media relations, command information, social-media outreach.
Plans, issues, and programs impacting the DoD, DA, and U.S. Army FORCES Command --
Including tracking upcoming support for major Army events (Army Birthday, Memorial Day 4th of July, Veterans Day, etc.)
Respond to public request and inquiries from local, regional, national and international news media organizations and representatives seeking information pertaining to FORSCOM and its activities -- includes writing articles, taking photographs.
Provide appropriate planning, policy and Public Affairs guidance to FORSCOM units to enable them to conduct effective and efficient Public Affairs programs -- including preparing reports for.
Army tracking of major communication initiatives for Soldiers, units and the American public.
Reports highlight FORSCOM communications -- including statistics on social media outreach and number of monthly events.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 5%.
- This position may require a one-year probationary period.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in 1) Writing a variety of articles, news releases, speeches, social media posts and social-media communication plans; information papers/fact sheets to convey information and to clarify the organization's missions; 2) Writing plans and guidance to establish guidelines and policies for use within the organization or by subordinate public affairs offices; 3) Presenting oral and or written information to internal and external audiences to gain support from those audiences for existing or proposed programs; 4) Applying principles, methods, and techniques of all forms of mass and interpersonal communications media when developing, executing, and evaluating public affairs plans, policies, and practices.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
