Duties

You will plan and coordinate the integration of business system data structures within the geospatial data model to meet current and emerging mission requirements. You will curate web-content, manage geospatial data, and oversee metadata content standards for the USMC Geospatial Authoritative data store, GEOFidelis online. You will serve as the expert in reviewing and interpreting new and established directives, instructions, and regulations to determine their impact on geospatial technologies, system configuration changes, and information technology compliance. You will conduct various ad=hoc analysis, prepare reports, and compile information for management covering geospatial technology lifecycle recommendations.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Designing, developing, installation, implementation or management of databases; and editing, publishing, or applying geospatial data standards and governance. Basic Requirements:

1. Degree: cartography; or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
