Duties

You will review ship and/or system specifications, Headquarters Modification Requests (HMRs), Field Modification Requests (FMRs), test forms, contractor and government procedures, technical reports, Engineering Reports, and other information. You will identify potential problems in the areas requiring special coordination efforts. You will consult with various specialists at the activity and other government/commercial activities in obtaining necessary guidance and/or direction. You will maintain daily contact with the assigned ship and combat systems coordinators to monitor progress of shipboard work and coordinate resolution of daily problems that have potential impact on schedules. You will be responsible for review and signature concurrence of the ship's sea trial agenda; coordinate and schedule all basic trial evolution and initiate corrective actions of all resulting trial deficiencies. You will monitor status of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) material. You will be responsible for coordinating the effort involved with maintaining the continuity of Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Certification and Deep Submergence System Scope of Certification. You will obtain and prepare cost and schedule data to monitor, evaluate, and predict performance and cost. You will initiate work authorization for those items deemed to be the responsibility of the government to correct. You will develop work specifications and provide budget estimates for work specifications, purchase requests in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and initiate requests for funds.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing oversight of ship project operations during the construction, alteration, modernization, or repair phases to meet production or project requirements.
