Duties

You will review ship and system specifications, test forms, contractor and government procedures, technical reports, Engineering Reports, and other information. You will attend and engage at various conferences/meetings convened periodically to influence work progress. You will consult with various specialists at the activity and other government/commercial activities in obtaining necessary guidance and direction. You will obtain and prepare cost and schedule data to monitor, evaluate, and predict performance and cost. You will identify and research contractor requirements and processes related to construction and construction support including material identification, ordering, receipt, handling, and end use. You will interface with contractor representatives to oversee, identify risks concerning, and resolve issues relating to those requirements and processes. You will monitor status of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Contractor Furnished Equipment material. You will tour the assigned submarine projects on a routine basis in order to track work progress, understand current and potential problem areas, and help to integrate solutions across all stakeholders. You will oversee critical and controlling path work on assigned project(s) to increase awareness and minimize schedule loss, project walks, deck plate discussions with SMEs, and coordination of others to promote early communications of help needed. You will identify potential problems in areas requiring special coordination efforts. You will initiate action to correct or resolve items of emergent nature. You will maintain daily contact with the assigned ship and combat systems coordinators in order to monitor progress of shipboard work and keep abreast of and coordinate resolution of daily problems that have a potential impact on schedules. You will evaluate and provide recommendations for resolution of Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs) , Notification of Changes(NOCs) and contract changes. You will manage the Class Design Data Review Team (DDRT) program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing guidance or advice on production control operations or activities to ensure compliance with established schedules, requirements, milestones for the design, development, construction, maintenance, repair, or modernization of shipboard systems on submarines or surface ships.
