You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Environmental Branch, Pollution Prevention Section ofMCLB ALBANY GA.
Duties
You will oversee the Hazardous Material Cell which is responsible for identifying, quantifying, authorizing and purchasing all hazardous material ordered for use in the industrial facility and various support operations.
You will work with other government agencies and various vendors to facilitate meeting the demands of the users.
You will provide guidance and serve as the central point of contact in response to all hazardous material inspections, audits, and staff visits.
You will actively develop alternative programs which allow excess hazardous material to be advertised and reallocated throughout the installation thus reducing the hazardous material purchases and avoiding additional disposal costs.
You will attend conferences with higher headquarters and other installations to provide MCLB representation and assistance in system development projects and other related management projects.
You will manage the hazardous materials tracking system in order to ensure a real-time inventory of all hazardous materials currently on-base.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. I am willing and able to submit to a SCHR check.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Identifying, quantifying, authorizing and purchasing all hazardous material ordered for use in an industrial facility, management of automated systems for management and reporting capabilities of hazardous materials, waste and air emissions, and providing guidance in response to all hazardous material inspections, audits, and staff visits for a large industrial facility.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, applicants can qualify for this position through education substitution. To qualify through education substitution, applicant must possess:
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
OR
An LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
