The selectee of this position serves as the Chief of the Infrastructure Core Branch, responsible for providing managerial and technical leadership of all IT personnel involved in developing, deploying, and supporting USMS enterprise-wide infrastructure. This position is located in the Information Technology Division (ITD), United States Marshals Service (USMS).

Duties

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Infrastructure) at the GS-2210-15 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to USMS leadership, users, and other IT Specialists. Develop infrastructure policies, procedures, and guidelines; provides technical and policy guidance for accomplishing work, resolves work related problems, and accepts or rejects work based on established standards. Responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, backing up, and integrating various components (Servers, Operating Systems, Databases, and Networks); continually monitors and assess' all infrastructure systems to ensure they are operating efficiently, and recommending/implementing changes as required. Interact with Federal, DOJ, and industry leaders and stays current on latest technological developments ensuring that the USMS deploys and operates robust, leading-edge technology to enhance operational efficiency. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This is a Testing Designated Positions (TDP) and is subject to random drug testing.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial/probationary period.
  • May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probation period.
  • Status Candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) Status applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. One year at the GS-14 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply. To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must meet each of the following: Basic Requirement: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement described above, you must have the Specialized Experience described below. Specialized Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Providing visionary leadership and guidance to Information technology (IT) employees; Managing existing programs and collaborates across information technology organizations to develop and maintain enterprise infrastructure services; and Planning, designing, developing, documenting, and implementing secure and cost-effective IT infrastructure solutions.
