This position is located at the Dental Clinic in Peach Springs, Arizona, part of the Colorado River Service Unit. The Peach Springs Dental Clinic consists of four chairs and provides preventative, rehabilitative and community service to the Hualapai Indian reservation, which includes work also at the Supai Dental Clinic. This position involves travel to provide care at other CRSU facilities as needed. Position reports to the Chief Dentist at the Parker Indian Healthe Center.
Duties
Responsible for administrative and supervisory duties and recruitment for dental department.
Completes peer reviews for dentist and assists chief dentist with budgetary and training for dental staff.
Perform routine restorative procedures such as amalgams, resins, and stainless steel crowns on pediatric patients. Administers local anesthesia and nitrous oxide, as privileged.
Perform single to multiple extractions and provides prosthetic services.
Completes charting via electronic health records and manual including patients' medical history.

Education:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure:
Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience:
In addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicant must have one or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing professional dentistry work for GS-12 level.
Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.
Medical Requirements:
Must be able to distinguish shades of color.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GP-0680-12
Two (2) year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science; OR
One full year of professional dentistry experience and/or training. This experience is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinate the day-to-day clinical functions of a Dental Clinic; Manage work schedules of subordinate staff; Participate and advise in personnel matters relating to the dental staff including: staffing plan, recruiting and hiring; Arrange regular staff meetings; Assists Dental Providers in developing and maintaining Quality Assurance program; Meet regularly with the dental providers to present clinic staff ideas and concerns; Manage and purchase dental supplies and maintains dental budget; Orientate new staff members on Infection Control procedures, fire exit procedures, dental health record procedures, reappointment procedures, location of fire extinguishers, etc.; Provide support staff training.
