Duties

This position is located within the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Office of Policy and Analysis (OPAA). This position will be located in either Sterling, Virginia or Washington, D.C. At the full performance level (GS-9) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1.Receives and reviews documents for signature of the Chief of OPAA, as well as Chief, OPAA Policy and Strategy Branch, and Chief, OPAA Evaluation Branch for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, grammar, typographical accuracy and, and necessary attachments, and on own initiative returns documents (e.g., letters or memoranda) to OPAA originator for correction, providing support as needed. 2. Enters relevant data and documentation into the Document Tracking System (DTS) as well as other tracking spreadsheets used to ensure the circulation and progress of documents and related materials. Acts as correspondence lead for the office, which includes ensuring documents are processed and tracked appropriately. 3. Serves as timekeeper for OPAA. 4. Independently determines the best method for purchasing supplies, materials, services, and equipment. 5. Reviews all travel authorizations and travel vouchers for all office personnel and prepares the same for OPAA staff. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory permission. Salary Information GS-09, Step 1: $64,957.00 to GS-09, Step 10: $84,441.00 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the specialized experience for the series to which you are applying. To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Experience acting as a correspondence lead for the office which includes ensuring documents are processed and tracked appropriately. 2) Experience with processing travel documents and ensuring they are in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and policies governing travel. 3) Experience utilizing an automated time and attendance system 4) Experience providing support to ensure broader office compliance with records, or budget management Must meet three out of the four above statements. Education can be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-09 level as outlined below. TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED. A. Degree: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or L.L.B. or J.D., if related. TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED.
