You will serve as a Secretary in the Nuclear Propulsion Directorate of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.

Duties

You will receive visitors and telephone calls to the director or deputy director. You will maintain a calendar for the director or deputy director for appointments, meetings, and trips. You will respond to requests for information concerning office functions. You will keep the director, deputy director, and staff informed on procedural, policy, personnel, and other changes that may be of interest or have an impact upon projects. You will review and categorize incoming correspondence, publications, regulations and directives which, because of their subject, may affect the projects. You will review documents prepared for signature of or requiring coordination of the director, deputy director, or the deputy administrator for conformance with regulations, grammar, format, and special policies in the directorate. You will prepare briefing material and conduct internet searches as requested. You will make all travel arrangements for supervisor and staff members, including the preparation of travel request and claims. You will make arrangements for conferences and videoconferences; reserve rooms and notify individuals who are to attend and prepare background material for the supervisor concerning the subject matter of the conference.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band (BV-02) or grade level (GS-8) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a secretary or principle administrative support position coordinating the work of an office to include using office automation and software programs to prepare documents, scheduling appointments, and identify and resolve administrative matters.
