This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Commandant (CG-8), National Pollution Funds Center (NPFC), Command Staff, Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as Administrative Specialist managing the overall day-to-day administrative, office, and technical management processes. The services performed are highly confidential, diverse, often complex, and are time-sensitive to the operations of the organization.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-7 level: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5 or equivalent) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: providing, preparing, and coordinating correspondence, general administrative and clerical operations support; maintaining incoming and outgoing mail and greeting and escorting office visitors; prioritizing and keeping senior leadership informed of calendars, meetings, scheduling conflicts and other administrative responsibilities within the office; serving as office timekeeper. OR
Applicants may substitute successful completion of one full year of graduate level education which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. OR
A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience that which meets the total qualification requirement for the GS-07 level. OR
Superior Academic Achievement
To qualify for the GS-9 level: Applicants must have One (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: providing advice, guidance, information, and direction in administrative and clerical policies, procedures, functions, processes, and guidelines to support the staff; communicating with senior/higher-leveled military/civilian personnel; monitoring the status of projects, reports, correspondence, appointments, managing/coordinating travel; serving as office timekeeper; maintaining incoming and outgoing mail and greeting and escorting office visitors.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree; Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; (or an LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
A Combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify for the GS-09 level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
