This position is located in the Intermountain Region, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Sparks, Nevada.
Provides administrative support to program managers and program specialists with State and Private Forestry programs and other relevant collaborative programs in one or more of the following areas: collaborative forest restoration, urban and community forestry, non-industrial private forest landowner assistance, biomass utilization and ecosystem services.
Duties
Assists in assessing the needs and developing plans to meet the administrative and operational requirements regarding the specialized area.
Serves as central point of contact for information on a variety of administrative functions, procedures and requirements for the unit staff.
Provides straightforward assistance to program managers in the planning, coordination and/or management of an assigned portion of a project by reviewing and analyzing relevant information and studies to the scope of assigned work.
Applies an understanding of federal grants and cooperative agreements to assist Regional State and Private Forestry leadership in implementing Agency goals, objectives, vision and values concerning administrative management and related activities
Assists in developing grant processes and procedures for management of grants and cooperative agreements under State and Private Forestry and other relevant collaborative programs.
Requirements

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Examples of work experience that meet this requirement include one or more of the following: provides administrative support to program managers and program specialists with State and Private Forestry programs and other relevant collaborative programs in one or more of the following areas: collaborative forest restoration, urban and community forestry, non-industrial private forest landowner assistance, biomass utilization and ecosystem services.
OR master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.
A combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
