The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and manage T-37 Flightline Maintenance with specific emphasis on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in conduction with launch, recovery, servicing and other common flightline maintenance.
Duties
- Personnel Administration Duties: Keeps subordinates informed of quality control, cost reduction, suggestion and various other programs to promote participation, increase efficiency and cut down operational costs.
- Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
- Work Direction: Directs a work force of approximately 38 civilian employees on a 3-shift day a week operation.
- Accountable for ensuring control over tools and equipment used during aircraft maintenance. Enforces and utilizes practices and procedures for safety, fire and good housekeeping.
- Reviews and assesses production reports and data for problem areas and accomplishes studies of continuing problems.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
- Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an AIRCRAFT ATTENDANT SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. In-depth technical knowledge of jet engine aircraft mechanics flight controls and other systems of assigned aircraft along with an understanding of flightline operations and periodic inspection procedures.
2. Knowledge of the theory of flight and correlation of associated systems aboard aircraft.
3. Knowledge of commonly accepted planning techniques and principles.
4. Knowledge of safety, security and housekeeping requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and technical orders.
5. Skill in the use of special tools, precision testing and measuring equipment. Ability to supervise subordinates.
6. Ability to direct and motivate subordinates. Ability to effectively communicate with other personnel, both orally and in writing. Ability to diagnose cause of system or component malfunction. Ability to assess training needs and explain technical procedures. Ability to plan and organize workers, equipment, materials and tools. Ability to analyze work requirements.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
