This position is located in the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP), Division of Litigation Technology and Analysis (DLTA). DLTA plays a central role in BCP's investigation and litigation of consumer protection matters, including working with attorneys to assess investigatory and discovery needs, managing the technological tools used to conduct investigations and litigation, and evaluating and implementing emerging technologies.
Duties
As a Litigation Support Specialist (Data Processor), you will serve as a technical authority on eDiscovery systems and software and manage large volumes of complex data within the eDiscovery environment. Specifically, you will perform the following duties:
Manages and implements litigation support applications, including the design, creation, and maintenance of litigation databases.
Uses a variety of software applications to ingest, process, and load electronically stored information. Processes data in accordance with eDiscovery best practices and identifies and corrects problems with data throughout the eDiscovery life cycle.
Utilizes a variety of software applications to execute document productions, including tiffing, bates numbering, performing OCR, and creating load files for a variety of document review tools.
Plans, directs, and monitors the progress of data loading, processing, and production. Strategically troubleshoots issues concerning data loading, processing, and production in various eDiscovery applications.
Utilizes file manipulation applications and text editing software and tools to standardize or normalize complex data sets.
Assists attorneys in negotiations with opposing parties regarding the production and format of electronically stored information.
Evaluates litigation support processes, make recommendations to improve standard operating procedures for litigation support work, and develops new approaches to the management of electronically stored information to address changes in technology and the types of data formats obtained in litigation.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Litigation Support Specialist (Data Processor) at the GS-12 level, you must meet the following requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: utilizing automated litigation support applications such as LAW PreDiscovery, Nuix, and Relativity; experience in ingesting, processing, and loading electronically stored information into litigation databases; and experience in utilizing software applications to execute document productions.
To qualify for a Litigation Support Specialist (Data Processor) at the GS-13 level, you must meet the following requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing automated litigation support applications such as LAW PreDiscovery, Nuix, and Relativity; experience in ingesting, processing, and loading electronically stored information into litigation databases; experience using file manipulation applications and text editing software and tools and experience in utilizing a variety of software applications to execute document productions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
